The European Blockchain Sandbox team are pleased to announce the closure of the application phase for the third Sandbox cohort. We now move into the Selection Phase, wherein a dedicated Selection Team will evaluate the submitted applications to determine the composition of the upcoming 20-use case cohort.
Throughout the applications period, our team has been working hard to engage with the blockchain community across the European Economic Area, engaging with innovators, associations, regulators, and public authorities to elevate awareness of this groundbreaking initiative. We have been involved extensively in conferences and webinars with national and EU organisations, and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to all those associations who have helped us to connect with even more blockchain innovators right across the EU/EEA.
Selection Process
The application window for the second cohort closed on 31st January 2025, at 23:59 CET. Our Selection Team is now thoroughly reviewing all submissions received by the deadline, based on publicly disclosed Selection Criteria available on our website (Selection Criteria). A use case from the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure, endorsed by the EBP, will also be included for public entities.
The Selection Team is composed of blockchain specialists from Warren Brandeis, and the process is validated by an independent academic panel including Professor Roman Beck (IT-University, Copenhagen), Professor Soulla Louca (University of Nicosia, Cyprus), and Professor Walter Blocher (Universities of Kassel).
Applicants will receive a notification by email by mid-late March, detailing the decision. Selected participants will also be informed about the project onboarding stage.
