New date for Conclusion Workshop - 6 May
Due to the COVID-19 situation in Europe, the date for the Conclusion Workshop of Observatory 1.0 has been moved back to Wednesday, 6 May, 2020. During the workshop we will be reviewing the first two years of the Observatory’s work, taking deep dives into some of the key topics we have addressed, and, importantly, looking to the future of blockchain in Europe and globally.
The workshop will be held online. You can register using the link below.

#EUBlockchain publications
We recently published a paper on blockchain and energy, “Towards a Peer-to-Peer Energy Market: an Overview”, by our academic partner the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
This concludes our series of academic papers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our academic partners for their contributions over the last two years.

@theglobalhack Global Hackathon against COVID-19
The European Commission (DG CNECT) is working with several key partners, including the World Bank, EBRD, and various UN agencies, to support the Global Hackathon to connect people globally in a solidarity movement to develop solutions to fight the corona crisis. The Global Hackathon is organised by Estonia in cooperation with the EC and it is supported by a global network of organisations in 30 countries. We encourage anyone who is interested to get involved.

#EUBlockchain Online Community
As usual, our online forum remains active. Here are some of the issues that caught the attention of our community during the month:
- New EC study on legal, governance and interoperability aspects of blockchain
- NGI POINTER Open Call with €5.6M available for #Internet #Architects has been launched
- #Funding for Self-Sovereign Identity #SSI projects
- Why are not more parts of the EU and beyond trialling more local projects to engage the masses?
- Finally, a reminder that our workshop videos are always available online. For instance, you might try these:
Thank you!
As always, we would like to thank everyone who has been active in contributing to the Observatory. None of this would be possible without the participation of all of you in our community.
With best regards,
The EU Blockchain Observatory & Forum
